Martin Gibson Retains Championship Squash Title!

Grantham based Martin Gibson has won the Lincolnshire County Squash Championship for the third year running. The victory means another trophy for the talented 25 year old and marks a successful start to his new sponsorship deal with Axis, a Rutland promotions company.

The tournament took place at Grantham Squash Club over the 24th and 25th of January, and featured a mix of top County players. Martin stormed through the opening rounds to face nationally ranked sixteen year old Adam Auckland in the final. A fierce match followed, which Martin won by three games to one. Organiser Phil Hiatt presented the trophy at a special awards ceremony.

Martin played squash for England at junior level and now coaches players of all ages at Grantham Squash Club. He feeds talented youngsters into local and national competitions; something that satisfies him immensely.

“Winning the Lincolnshire County Squash Championship for the third year running is a massive personal accomplishment” said Martin. “The tournament was fiercely competitive and the quality of squash outstanding. I look forward to future events!”

Martin’s sponsor Axis will help publicise his coaching sessions to encourage youngsters to start playing. A new website, which will provide information on dates, locations, and tournaments, will be online within the next few weeks!
