Axis meeting in Chester office

On 15 August 2018 Axis secured planning permission in principle for the regeneration of the 423 hectare former Westfield opencast coal site in Fife.

The scheme includes 160,000m2 of employment space and is centred on a 250,000tpa Energy from Waste (EfW) plant and 3 recycling facilities. The EfW plant will supply heat and power to on-site energy users, with the balance of electricity being exported to the grid.

The scheme also includes 70 hectares of solar power, approximately half of which is a floating installation. Axis was responsible for the production of the planning application and full EIA, together with a detailed and complex Transport Assessment.

Axis is presently engaged in the submission of a number of subsequent applications pursuant to the permission in principle.
