Our landscape team has extensive expertise across all areas of design practice, including landscape planning, landscape and visual assessment, landscape design and place making.

As a registered practice of the Landscape Institute, we offer an exceptional service that meets stringent standards of quality.

Landscape planning and LVIA

Combining our extensive experience and understanding of major infrastructure development with an in-depth knowledge of the natural, social and environmental context of UK landscapes, we help our clients design developments that are more likely to be accepted by communities and decision makers.

Our experienced landscape architects appraise landscapes to establish how well they might accommodate a development and whether views and landscape character would be affected.

The team also has considerable experience and a successful track record in providing expert landscape and visual impact evidence at public inquiries.

Our core landscape planning services include:

  • Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA)
  • Landscape capacity studies
  • Landscape character assessment
  • Landscape expert witness

Landscape design

The Axis landscape design team works closely with other disciplines to produce designs that are responsive to contemporary needs, sensitive to the environment and considerate of long-term sustainability.

Our skilled team is committed to producing innovative landscape design and creating inspirational places through a range of hard and soft landscape services, including design and specification of paving and furniture, planting design, integration of public art, habitat creation and sustainable urban drainage solutions.

Drawing on our detailed technical knowledge and decades of experience, we shape ideas into comprehensive proposals that address environmental effects in the wider context of regulatory, social and environmental frameworks.

We work on a wide range of projects including major flood defence schemes, new build residential and commercial development and city centre regeneration. We undertake construction detailing, project management and contract administration. Working hand-in-hand with our environmental impact assessment team, we also produce environmental mitigation schemes that help to sensitively integrate development into its setting.

Our clients

Graphics and visualisation

Our dedicated graphics and computer-aided design (CAD) team creates clear and accurate visuals that bring concepts to life as high quality digital drawings, figures and images.

At every stage of the design process, from concept through master-planning to delivery, our skilled team creates the diagrams, layouts and supporting documents that underpin sound, sustainable design strategies.

We prepare accurate, photo-realistic and verifiable visual materials to support planning applications, landscape and visual assessments, and for use at exhibitions and presentations, along with drawings, schedules and specifications suitable for the tender, construction, and maintenance of hard and soft landscape works.
