Axis Secures Consent for Kingswood Investments

Axis successfully obtained planning consent for Kronospan from Wrexham County Borough Council for three combined heat and power (CHP) gas engines with a total electrical output of 30MW.

The planning consent also provides for three steam boilers, an electrical substation and other associated infrastructure at Kronospan’s wood panel manufacturing facility, Chirk.

The highly efficient CHP generating facility will allow the site to be self-sufficient in terms of electrical energy and will reduce the carbon footprint of the manufacturing site due to the efficiency of the engines.

Axis project managed all aspects of the planning application, including detailed noise, air quality and landscape assessments.
