In October 2018 Jon Mason, Axis Landscape Technical Director, presented expert witness evidence to the Golticlay Wind Farm public inquiry which was held over a 5-day period in Wick.
A section 36 consent for the proposed wind farm had been sought from the Scottish Government by the developer E.ON Climate and Renewables on Forestry Commission Land southwest of Wick in Caithness. Whilst Highland Council officers recommended no objection, the planning committee voted to object, triggering the requirement for a public inquiry.
The project would consist of 19 turbines of 130m in height and would generate over 68MW of renewable energy. Axis had previously prepared all landscape and visual impact submissions including visualisations within an Environmental Statement coordinated by AECOM. Scottish Ministers are expected to provide a decision in mid-2019.
