Committee approval secured for 14 affordable homes in Trefor, Gwynedd - featured

We’re pleased to share that Axis, led by Jamie Bradshaw, has secured planning committee approval for an affordable housing exception site on the edge of Trefor on the Llŷn Peninsula.

The application required extensive justification due to the scale of the scheme, with housing needs demonstrated across four nearby villages. The site is also located within a National Landscape (AONB), requiring careful consideration of design, landscape impact, and planning policy.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Given the high proportion of Welsh language speakers in this area, the application also required detailed assessment of potential impacts alongside the benefits of the development. A package of mitigation measures was developed to ensure the scheme supports local communities while also helping to address the housing shortage in this part of Gwynedd.

Through extensive engagement with the project team and planning officers, the application gained clear support and was successfully approved by Committee.

Jamie Bradshaw who led the project for Axis, said: “This was a complex proposal in a sensitive planning context, requiring careful consideration of housing needs, landscape impact, and the Welsh language. Working closely with the design team and local authority officers, we were able to demonstrate the clear need for affordable homes in this area and secure support for a scheme that will provide lasting benefits for local communities.”

We are delighted to have helped secure this site for our client and look forward to seeing much-needed affordable homes delivered for local communities. 👏 And a great collaborative effort with the wider project team:
